Towards an AI Act that serves people and society – European Centre for Not-for-Profit Law

‘The coming two years will be critical for the future of Artificial Intelligence regulation in Europe. While the adoption of the European Union’s AI Act in 2024 was a significant achievement in itself, the implementation and enforcement phase that now follows will decide whether it can have a practical impact on how AI is developed and used. Public interest advocates must be active partners in this process to ensure that the regulation can be an effective tool to challenge
the harmful impacts of AI on society and secure accountability over AI use. Their success will determine the future direction of AI not just in Europe, but also in the many countries across the globe that look set to follow the EU’s regulatory lead.’
